Bitumen pucks

Bitumen pucks

Bitumen pucks are a type of packaging which have become popular recently. In the following, we will become more familiar with the bitumen nature, types and various packaging forms. So, stay with us.

Bitumen packages types

As a matter of fact, there are currently several types of bitumen packaging as follows:

  • Steel barrels (scales from 100 to 210 kg): Steel metal barrels are widely applicable as the main method of bitumen packaging. In other words, metal bitumen barrels have been the most common type of packaging for the last 15-20 years.
  • Polybag: It has special advantages for packing and exporting bitumen. Some of these advantages are the low cost of packaging, the lightweight of packages and ease of transporting bags.
  • Bitutainers: They are generally containers for transporting cold bitumen in very large quantities with the ability to heat before use at the final destination through the use of various heating systems, including thermal oil to electrical solutions.

Important to know that bitutainer is suitable for storing and transporting road construction bitumen.

Besides, the net weight capacity of each is about 22 tons, so a higher capacity than the bitutainers

helps to reduce the level of shipping costs per metric ton.

  • Flexi Tank: It is a suitable device for storing and moving all kinds of liquids and chemicals in standard 20-foot containers. They are also available in sizes from 14 cubic meters to 24 cubic meters to use the maximum mobility of a container in terms of the relative density of liquids.

It’s worth mentioning that easy installation and maximum use of container space are the prominent features of this product.

Another advantage of this product is the noticeable reduction of price in the field of packaging, storage and transportation.

To be more specific, the reason for this difference is in the cheapness of the flexitank, easy placement,

fast and complete loading and draining of liquids.

Global demand on the bitumen pucks and other packaging types

According to the reports, global demand for bitumen and bitumen pucks in 2017 projected to reach 121 million tons, or 734 million barrels, in 2017, with an annual growth forecast of 3.6% compared to the base year of 2012.

This increase will be high in particular by growing demand in China and other developing countries.

Respectively, it seems that Iran, as one of the largest producers and exporters of bitumen and bitumen pucks in the world, which currently meets 3.8% of global demand, should have a well-codified plan to gain new markets and develop a global market for the export of this lucrative commodity.
